Distributed generation

Whate are cogeneration and trigeneration?

Cogeneration is one of the most efficient systems for rational energy use; in fact, it allows for the production of both electricity and thermal energy using the primary energy contained in fuel in the most optimal way. In this configuration, dissipating heat from the generation process is recovered and made directly available to the user in the form of hot water, steam and superheated water. By combining a cogeneration group to an absorption refrigerator group, the system is also able to produce cooling energy in the form of chilled water (Trigeneration).

Thermal energy can be used in the form of hot water (cogeneration) and/or cold water (trigeneration), and used as a replacement of traditional fossil fuels.
Electricity is completely fed into the grid and subsidised according to current regulations. This system provides savings of up to 40% and reduces air-polluting emissions (CO2).

A turnkey offer

Enel offers customer "turnkey" integrated services with its innovative contractual formula EPC (Energy Performance Contract), serving as a single point of contact in all the activities necessary for the construction and management of the cogeneration system: from requesting authorizations from the competent authorities , to system construction, management and relative maintenance.

Enel takes care of the full investment of the system's construction, requesting no money from the customer.

What is Methane Gas Cogeneration/Trigeneration?

A methane gas cogeneration system is an excellent production for industrial contexts thanks to its low management costs due to its use of the cleanest and most sustainable fuel.

The system's size is based on careful monitoring and analysis of the customer's energy consumption, enabling the identification of the correctly sized system.

The benefits of Methane Gas Cogeneration/Trigeneration

  1. Enel manages every phase of the intervention (System design, construction, operation and maintenance) with "turnkey" services
  2. Reduction in energy costs
  3. Enel bears the investment costs
  4. Enel assumes the Project's technical and financial risks
  5. Variable fees depending on consumption
  6. Customer-dedicated, highly professional Enel consultants (Key Account Manager)
  7. Tax incentives

What is Biomass Cogenerazione/Trigenerazione?

A biomass system is fueled by short supply chain agriculture and forestry products and/or by-products for the combined production of electricity and thermal energy.

The system's size is between 75kWe and 300kWe with variable usable thermal power between 350kWt and 1.2 MWt.

The benefits of Biomass Cogeneration/Trigeneration

  1. Electricity incentives (Ministerial Decree 06/07/2012)
  2. Thermal energy (hot water, steam and/or chilled water) is transferred to the customer at low costs
  3. Simplified authorized scheme (PAS <200 kWe)
  4. Reduced environmental impact through the reduction of air-polluting emissions (CO2) thanks to the replacement of traditional fossil fuels with "green energy" at a low cost
  5. Possibility of creating an integrated short supply chain in the territory
  6. Sustainable use of agricultural and forest residues and by-products
  7. Customer-dedicated, highly professional Enel consultants (Key Account Manager)
