What is a MAV bulletin
The MAV bulletin, short for "Payment by Notice", is a bank bulletin, created to facilitate remote payments. This instrument is used above all for the payment of condominium installments, school taxes, insurance premiums and pension contributions, but also for mortgage and financing installments.
The payment process follows a standard interbank procedure: the debtor receives the MAV slip, uses it to make the payment, thus guaranteeing a safe and fast transaction.
What makes the MAV unique is its 17-digit identification code, which ensures unambiguous tracking of the transaction. In addition to the code and the amount to be paid, the MAV slip provides information to unequivocally lead to the payer, the reason for the payment and the deadline by which to make the payment.
The MAV slip is a means of payment mainly chosen by public bodies, including Italian universities for the collection of taxes. It is also used by condominium administrators because the MAV allows them to collect condominium fees regularly.
What is a RAV bulletin
The RAV bulletin, acronym for "Roles by Notice", is the means used to fulfill payments of the sums registered in the roll in Italy. This tool is used to settle different types of payments, such as taxes for government concessions, for registration in professional registers and for tax collection procedures..
But what does registered sums mean? When a person owes a debt to a public body, the sums that are due are registered. The role is a list that contains the names of the debtors, the type of credit and the related sums owed. This is formed by the creditor body and transmitted to the Revenue Agency-Collection which processes and notifies the payment notice for the purposes of collecting the amounts. For example, the payment slips issued by the Revenue Collection Agency, which also contain already completed RAV slips, together with the relevant instructions, to facilitate payment by the set date, thus reducing the risk of errors.
Collection through the RAV bulletin can take place in two main ways:
- the forced collection, applied in the event of non-payment of contributions or taxes;
- the spontaneous collection, when the user pays off sums due in an ordinary way, such as registration fees for professional registers.
