PURE ELECTRIC (ELECTRIC VEHICLE OR EV)

This is an electrically propelled vehicle powered by rechargeable batteries that are recharged by connecting the car to the electrical grid or through a regenerative braking system.

Unlike vehicles with internal combustion engines, pure electric cars do not emit harmful substances to the environment.

HYBRID (HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE OR HEV)

In a hybrid car, an internal combustion engine is integrated with an electric propulsion system. When the two engines work together, the propulsion is hybrid.

The batteries are recharged solely through a regenerative braking system and the internal combustion engine also generates current for the electric motor.

How many types of hybrid cars are there?

Series hybrid.
The internal combustion engine is not connected to the wheels and is only used to generate the current needed to power the electric motor, with the excess energy used to recharge the battery.

Parallel hybrid.
An internal combustion engine and an electric motor transmit power the wheels via a mechanical coupling node. The internal combustion engine recharges the battery of the electric motor if required.

Power-split hybrid.
This has a mechanical coupling node, as in parallel hybrids, and an electric coupling node as in series hybrids. It is versatile and allows switching from the "series" to the "parallel" system at will.
In low-load, low-speed conditions, with a well-charged battery, the car can be powered by the electric motor alone.
With greater loads and higher speeds, the two propulsion systems work in combination.

ENERGY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.
Do cars pollute? Not electric cars if you choose EnelDrive, which helps you eliminate emissions, with energy from 100% renewable sources.
Not only will the air you breathe improve, but also your hearing, because electric cars halve the noise pollution around town.

OTHER TYPES OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES.

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).
This is a hybrid vehicle with the additional possibility of charging the batteries from the electrical grid.

Extended Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV).
This is a vehicle that runs purely in electric mode as long as the battery supplies power. When the charge falls below a certain level, the internal combustion engine comes into play to charge the battery.

Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV.
This is a vehicle that produces energy on board, combining oxygen from the air with pure hydrogen or hydrogen derived from other fuels. The unit, consisting of a fuel cell stack, is replenished by a hydrogen tank.
