How to make the transfer with Enel Energia

Below you will find the details on how to make a transfer, i.e. change the owner of the supply

How to do it

You can change the power of the meter only after changing the owner.

What data are needed

To make a transfer you need these data:

  • name and surname, tax code or VAT number of the new owner of the supply;
  • the POD code (for the electricity supply) or the PDR code (for the gas supply). For the electricity supply, alternatively, you can communicate the 9-digit customer code. You can find the codes on the current account holder's bill or on the electronic meter display;
  • telephone number and e-mail address of the new owner.

Costs and times

Costs change based on the type of transfer:

  • if the meter is active with a supplier other than Enel Energia the transfer with change of supplier is free!
  • if the meter is active with Enel Energia the transfer costs €23, excluding VAT*, commercial fee for the seller.

To complete the transfer it usually takes:

  • 5 working days for the light
  • 4 working days for gas

calculated from the day on which we receive all the necessary documents correctly completed.


*The cost is established by ARERA with annual review, to which VAT, contract stamp duty and security deposit must be added. If you choose to pay by bank or postal direct debit, the security deposit is not charged.

Contractual kit: which documents to return

The contractual kit is the set of necessary documents that we send you via e-mail or post, based on the channel you have chosen, after signing an electricity or gas offer. 

To conclude a supply contract it is important to correctly fill in and return the documents that indicate "to be returned":

Remember to always attach a copy of your valid identification document.

Other types of transfers

Transfer with change of light supplier

It is the transfer that allows you to change the owner of the electricity supply contract and at the same time switch to another supplier.

Doing the transfer and change supplier in a single step has many advantages:

  • It's free;
  • reduces switching times from one supplier to another;
  • there is no interruption of the electricity service.

Transfer due to death of the contract holder (mortis causa)


This transfer is free and you can request it only if:

  • the supply is for domestic use;
  • the new owner is heir and cohabitant with the deceased owner.

Transfer for separation/divorce

This transfer is free and you can request it only if:

  • you are the spouse to whom the house has been assigned;
  • the supply is for domestic use.
