Earthquake emergency, a constant commitment

Earthquake emergency, a constant commitment

Light helps immensely in emergency situations such as those caused by a major earthquake. It allows rescue teams to operate, enables affected people to call their loved ones, to assess the condition of their homes and monuments, and psychologically contributes to sending a positive signal to those who have been traumatized.

For this reason, Enel has long worked in synergy with the Civil Protection Department, and has recently strengthened this collaboration through a new memorandum of understanding.

Following the latest tremors that struck Central Italy, the technicians of e-distribuzione - the Enel Group company that manages the electricity distribution network - immediately got to work to quickly restore the disconnected power lines.

The task force was activated immediately to carry out interventions and assess damage to infrastructure in the area, providing generators and lighting towers to the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection. Thanks to ongoing technological upgrades to the network, e-distribuzione is able to restore service quickly, including via remotely controlled operations, for a large portion of customers.

The work is never easy, often made more difficult by major accessibility issues, but the technicians of e-distribuzione reached even the most remote hamlets to reactivate Primary Cabins and all accessible power supplies as quickly as possible.

Just like the e-distribuzione network, a few minutes after the quake, Enel's dam monitors also launched control procedures on the facilities located in the affected areas, to check for any damage. Our experts and technicians worked in constant contact with the national dam safety authority, Civil Protection, and local authorities.

Enel is also close to its customers through the mobile Enel Point, a real office on four wheels, where people can receive all the necessary information and manage any need related to electricity and gas services.

We want to stand by people, especially in emergency situations, and we are constantly working to reaffirm our ongoing commitment to supporting citizens and the territory.
