What sanctions do I face if I fail to perform maintenance?

Each region requires regular sample inspections.

In the event of failure to comply with the inspection, the person responsible for the installation is liable to a fine of between €500 and €3,000.

How much does a boiler cost?

Prices for a turnkey condensing boiler can vary greatly and will depend on the brand, the power, the installation, the characteristics of the house, and the reliability of the company offering it.

Who can install a boiler?

A boiler must obligatorily be installed by a qualified and experienced person, who must be able to work with gas, which is a flammable material, and with the electrical installation.

The fitter also has expertise on how to set up the boiler to operate it safely and efficiently, which is why it is best to rely on highly qualified individuals.

Who offers boiler maintenance services and where can they be purchased?

Boiler maintenance is mandatory[1]. In fact, Article 7 of Presidential Decree 74/2013 stipulates that the frequency of maintenance is indicated in the technical instructions for use and maintenance made available by the installation company of the system, or in the absence of these, in the technical instructions for the specific model drawn up by the manufacturer. Only in the event that this data is also missing will reference be made to the UNI and CEI standards for the boiler.

An annual maintenance service is usually offered by the boiler manufacturer's service centres or by fitters/maintenance companies.

Other means such as the web and large-scale distribution are also available.

[1] pursuant to Presidential Decree. 74/2013 ('Regulation defining the general criteria for the operation, management, control, maintenance and inspection of thermal systems for winter and summer air conditioning of buildings and for the preparation of hot water for sanitary uses, pursuant to Art. 4(1)(a) and (c) of lgs.decree 192/2005”)

What is a boiler for?

A boiler is the most important part of the heating system. It heats rooms by supplying hot water to radiators and produces domestic hot water that we use for washing. It can also be used for only one of these two functions. Boilers can be condensing or traditional. Condensing boilers are the only ones that recover heat from flue gases and thus save up to 20% on consumption.

What is the air-conditioning system booklet?

This is a form provided for by Decree 10/2/2014 of the Ministry of Economic Development, which is issued when the boiler is installed and where all interventions, whether routine or extraordinary, carried out on the system are reported, together with boiler data and dates of inspections.
