Should my boiler be serviced? How often? What is the “blue sticker”?

According to current regulations, boilers must be serviced in the 4th year after installation and then every 2 years. This service, also known as the “blue sticker”, consists of analysing the flue gas and transmitting the measurement report to the competent authorities.
Boiler maintenance, on the other hand, consists of a series of annual checks on the boiler and part of the system in the vicinity of the boiler.

Regular and correct maintenance of the boiler is mandatory by law (Presidential Decree 74/2013) and guarantees:

  • Safety: less risk of accidents and injuries for the user, as well as of damage or failure of the device itself

  • Savings: lower energy consumption and thus lower bill costs (heating accounts for 70% of a home's consumption);

  • Reduced pollutant emissions: greater system efficiency means lower environmental impact in terms of
    pollutant gas emissions

Maintenance must be requested even if you are not the owner of the home.
The person responsible for the boiler is in fact the person using the heating system, whether owner or tenant, and it is up to them to bear the costs of maintenance.
