Physical PPA

It is a flexible, customizable and multi-year Renewable energy contract that provides for the physical delivery of Energy through the electricity production grid to your company.

Physical PPAs can be structured in two ways:

  • Sleeved PPA: a trilateral agreement between retailer, the customer and the Renewable energy producer. The Energy produced by Enel is physically delivered through the grid to the customer via an authorized supplier or retailer.
  • Full Supply PPA: the PPA is directly integrated into the customer’s electricity supply contract.

Virtual PPA

It is a flexible, customizable and multi-year bilateral contract based on Renewable energies, which does not provide for the physical delivery of Energy.

It therefore does not require changing supplier and is configured as a financial transaction, often referred to as a financial PPA.

Virtual PPAs work as Contracts for Difference (CFD):

  • if the market price of electricity is higher than the agreed strike price, the customer receives the difference.
  • if it is lower, the customer pays the difference to the supplier.
