What is PSV and where can I find it?

The PSV (acronym for Virtual Trading Point) is an electronic system administered by the Gestore dei mercati energetici (GME) and used as a reference hub for setting the price of the wholesale gas raw material component. The PSV represents the meeting point between supply and demand in the gas market on a national basis. The national figure is an average that takes into account the prices formed in different parts of Italy and at different times of the day.
For more information, see the PSV page.

What does the gas bill consist of?

The offer includes a price consisting of:

  • the price of the gas raw material component, equal to the PSV, VAT and taxes excluded, defined on a monthly basis, which is the monthly arithmetic mean value rounded to the third decimal place of the following prices expressed in Euro/MWh relative to PSV ICIS HEREN for each working day of the month (a) price obtained as the average of the "bid" and "offer" quotations reported in the "PSV Price Assessment Day-Ahead" section of the immediately preceding business day for each non-business day (including weekends) of the month; (b) price obtained as the average of the "bid" and "offer" quotations reported in the "PSV Price Assessment Weekend" section of the preceding first business day, published in the ICIS HEREN Report. Working days and holidays are to be understood with reference to the London English calendar.

  • a consumption charge (α), excluding VAT and taxes, expressed in Euro/Sm3, is a fixed and invariable parameter for 12 months from the date of activation of the supply. This contribution is representative of the costs of raw material expenditure not covered by the PSV.

  • a marketing and sales fee (CCV gas) of €180/PDR/year, excluding VAT and taxes, is to be paid on a monthly basis. This fee is fixed for 12 months from the date of activation of the supply (as referred to in Art. 2 of the General Conditions of Supply, hereinafter GTC).

The price of the gas raw material component (PSV + α), excluding VAT and taxes, represents about 57% of the total natural gas expenditure (excluding VAT and taxes) of a non-domestic customer with annual consumption of 5,000 Sm3.

The remaining cost components (charges for transport and meter as well as admin charges) are applied as defined, published and periodically updated by ARERA and as indicated in the Technical and Economic Conditions of the offer (CTE).

For more details see the percentage costs in your bill.

How is the security deposit calculated?

The security deposit, which will be refunded to you in the final adjustment bill, is calculated according to the number of cubic metres.
